My work place
Doll making process
I like making kids happy, and I'm sure that a nice Waldorf doll is a good way to do it!
My name is Varva. I'm an architect, designer and Waldorf doll artist.
I made my first Waldorf doll for my little daughter in 2014. Now I also make dolls for other children all over the world.
When making my dolls I always pay attention to the details trying to breath life into each baby. All my dolls are unique and have their own personalities. They are soft, cute and handmade only of natural materials of high quality.

Frequently asked questions
Thank you for choosing Waldorf Dolls by Varva!
Waldorf doll is made of natural materials: cotton jersey, natural sheep wool and wool yarn. Such a doll requires delicate handling and special care:

1. Small spots can be removed with a wet napkin.

2. Bobbling should be gently removed with a safety-razor.

3. If very stained, leave the doll to soak in warm water with a mild wool detergent for 10 min. You can gently scrub the spots. Please, don’t squeeze the doll. After washing rinse the doll thoroughly in flowing water and suspend it in a mesh bag for 1 hour to allow water to flow down. Afterwards hang up the doll in a mesh bag in a dry well-ventilated place for sever-al days until it gets completely dry. From time to time remove the doll from the mesh bag and change its position.
Don’t dry the doll on radiators or heaters.

4. After the doll gets dry, crumple it to unfold the wool inside.

5. Finally take blush or wax pencil and redden the cheeks a bit, if necessary.

6. Brush doll’s hair with a rounded coarse-toothed comb.
The clothes of Waldorf doll should be hand washed in warm water.

A Waldorf doll is a handcrafted, natural-material doll inspired by the principles of Waldorf education. These dolls are typically made of cotton fabric and wool, with simple, neutral facial features. This minimalism encourages children's imagination, allowing them to project emotions and stories onto the doll.

Why is it called a Waldorf doll?

The name comes from the Waldorf education system, founded by Rudolf Steiner in the early 20th century. The dolls are designed to align with the educational philosophy's emphasis on creativity, imagination, and the use of natural materials.

Principles of Waldorf Education

Waldorf education focuses on nurturing the whole child—mind, body, and spirit—through age-appropriate, hands-on activities and artistic expression. It encourages imagination, free play, and a deep connection to nature, with minimal exposure to technology during early childhood.
